Two new Airwave 9.9 trailable yachts have now been launched and are performing better than expected with good speed & height upwind and as expected a well balanced and comfortable off-wind performer. The boat can be set up so that raising & lowering the mast can be performed single-handed. The first two boats have similar interiors and have worked very well for the owners. However as part of our policy of continuous improvement, it is planned to increase the headroom (already over 6 feet) & redesign some features. The biggest impact will be the improved space in the v-berth & rear berth areas.
Both boats are fitted with electric lift keels and rudders. The first boat was fitted with an electric start 20HP Honda 4-stroke with trim & tilt. This has proven excellent for negotiating shallow waters and when reversing up to a beach to dry out on the sand. This is my preferred option. The second boat was also fitted with an electric anchor winch and an inboard shaft driven deisel motor. This is more economical and provides good generating power and hot-water heating when running. This boat is stored in a marina berth.
External Features include : Extra large anchorlocker/storage compartment, good sized foredeck, wide side-decks, large t-shaped cockpit with several storage bins & lockers, open transom with wide step for easy access. Customers and crew report that this is a very comfortable and easily handled sailing boat.
